Mom of the Month- June 2011

Congratulations to Ashley W.  She is not only MommyMovement Fitness' Mom On A Mission BUT also Mom of the Month for June!  Make sure you are keeping track of Ashley's progress!  Keep checking in on the blog! 

She is doing amazing and is working REALLY HARD on changing her habits to healthier ones (not only for herself but for her WHOLE family)!!!:)  Right now she in on vacation and still texting me what she eats and when she exercises!  Now that takes dedication!

I am so proud of her!  Keep it up Ashley you can do this!

Favorite pair of shoes and why?

Having fun at the beach!There are two kinds of shoes I really enjoy wearing- any kind of sandals and my running shoes.  I love any kind of sandal because they are so easy to put on and go!  They also symbolize the word summer to me, which means school is out and I get to spend more time with my family!  As for my running shoes, I feel stable and better about myself.  I know that when I put on these shoes I am doing something to help better myself.

Did you start MMF to lose weight?

Yes! Of course I wanted to lose the weight, but knew I needed Ashley with her mom!to become physically stronger, so these classes have spurred me on. I knew things were wrong with me, but didn’t know where to start to find out what was going on with my body. It’s funny how things work out, because I as I started taking these classes, I learned about the other women in my classes  and their health issues.  I realized that I wasn’t alone with dealing with Polycystic Ovarian Disease as well as other hormone imbalance issues.  In fact, a friend of mine from class introduced me to a hormone specialist in town which has been a complete godsend.  Even though it’s been and probably will still be a LONG road, things are starting to look UP!

What formats do you use?

During the school year, I take Tonya’s Monday night Mommy Muscle and Restore the Core Class and on Wednesdays I do the “Butt Crack of Dawn” class at 5:15 a.m..  In the summer, I still take the Monday night classes and  my son and I do Stroller Fit a couple days a week.

How has MMF changed your life?

Tremendously!  It’s completely changed how I look at myself, at food and at life! Even though I know that everyday is a struggle to make good food choices, to exercise, to get the right amount of sleep, etc, I am learning that taking care of myself isn’t a bad or selfish thing!  Whenever I start to get my shoes on to go to a class or to the gym, my son will ask me, “ Are you going to  go x-er-cise?”  I will tell him yes and he gets a big smile on his face.  His big smile is a constant reminder that I am doing this not just for myself, but for my son and my family to live a healthier life!
